The history of Craigdon Mountain Sports...

Craigdon Mountain Sports is a family run business based in Aberdeenshire. Local couple Margaret and Arthur Lee opened our first shop on Inverurie’s High Street in 1984. Quickly building up a reputation for providing the best in goods and service, the company went from strength to strength and was soon the place to get geared up for adventure in the North-East of Scotland.

Whilst still trading from this very store, Craigdon gradually outgrew the premises on High Street and so another, much bigger store was opened in Aberdeen in 1997. Before long, the success of the two shops was putting a strain on the rented warehousing, so a new office and warehouse complex was purpose built in Inverurie. With yet more stores added over the years – Perth in 2004 and Inverness in 2005, the company continues to grow. This coupled with our dedicated internet sales department set us firmly as Scotland’s premier independent outdoor retailer.

When the time came for Margaret and Arthur to retire, their children - Gordon, Stuart and Susan took over the reins – continuing the company’s passion for top quality outdoor clothing and equipment, and the very best in customer service. To this day Craigdon is still locally owned and operated, which puts us in the nice position of being large enough to have everything you need for your outdoor adventure, but small enough to care.
